Koran di Persimpangan

Hujan baru saja berhenti saat Firman melewati persimpangan yang sepi itu. Genangan air yang tersisa memantulkan cahaya lampu jalan, menciptakan suasana suram di sepanjang trotoar. Persimpangan itu selalu terasa aneh baginya—sepi dan hening meskipun letaknya di tengah kota. Firman menendang selembar koran basah yang tertempel di trotoar. “Persimpangan itu angker,” kata ibunya. “Sering ada suara-suara aneh dari sana.”

Waktu itu, Firman menganggapnya hanya omong kosong orang tua. Tapi malam ini, ada sesuatu yang membuatnya merasa gelisah. Firman memutuskan untuk berjalan lebih cepat, ingin segera sampai rumah. Namun, suara yang tiba-tiba muncul dari belakang membuat langkahnya terhenti.

Koran itu kini tidak hanya bergerak oleh angin. Di atasnya, samar-samar terlihat bayangan yang menyerupai sosok manusia. Sosok itu tampak bergerak di atas koran, namun tidak benar-benar menyentuh tanah. Firman mundur selangkah, matanya tak berkedip melihat fenomena aneh itu. Ia tidak percaya dengan apa yang dilihatnya.

“Siapa… siapa di sana?” Firman berusaha bertanya, suaranya gemetar. Namun, tidak ada jawaban. Koran itu hanya berhenti, diam, seolah menunggu sesuatu. Firman merasa bulu kuduknya berdiri. Ini terlalu aneh.

Ia membalikkan badan dan berlari. Derap kakinya menggema di jalanan basah, namun suara kertas yang terbang itu tetap mengikuti, seolah-olah mengejarnya. Firman semakin panik, ia berlari menuju arah yang lebih terang, berharap bisa keluar dari persimpangan itu secepat mungkin.

Namun, semakin jauh ia berlari, semakin keras suara koran itu terdengar. Suara lembut kertas yang terbang berubah menjadi deru keras yang menyerupai ribuan kertas melayang-layang di udara. Firman terengah-engah, namun ia tidak berani menoleh ke belakang.

Tiba-tiba, langkahnya terhenti di depan sebuah toko kelontong kecil yang lampunya masih menyala. Seorang pria tua duduk di depan toko itu, menghisap rokoknya dengan tenang. Firman berhenti, terengah-engah, mencoba memahami situasi.

“Pak… ada… ada yang aneh di persimpangan itu…” Firman menunjuk ke belakang, ke arah suara yang mengikutinya sejak tadi. Pria tua itu mengangkat alisnya, namun tidak tampak terkejut.

“Sudah lama ya, nggak ada yang bicara soal itu,” gumam pria tua itu sambil menepuk abu rokok dari tangannya.

Firman bingung dengan reaksi tenangnya. “Apa maksud Bapak?”
