Morning, 10 am. After the 12th grade report card distribution at one of the schools in Bogor city. Her name is Shila, the only girl who comes from a simple family. Her father is only a driver, while her mother is only a housewife.
Shila has a dream to go to college. But Shila’s dream is not easy. At home after taking her report card, her parents told her that they couldn’t afford her tuition fees. “Shila, mom and dad are very proud of you. You’re great at getting good grades. But, I’m sorry that I can’t continue your education. I can’t afford your tuition fees,” Dad said.
Shila felt sad and disappointed. She was sad because she saw her friends going on to higher education. But she also understood the condition of her family. Not wanting to give up on her college dream, Shila finally decided to work so she could save up for her own college fees.
She started looking for jobs around her neighborhood. After a few weeks of submitting her application at a café, Shila was finally accepted as a barista. Even though she was tired of her job, Shila kept her spirits up and kept learning so she could improve her knowledge. At the beginning of every month, she always set aside her salary to save.
After a few months of saving, Shila’s savings almost covered her tuition fees. She felt happy because her dream was almost achieved. Every time she feels tired, she always remembers her dream, with her struggles that have been at this stage. She wants to go to college, become a scholar and succeed to make her parents happy.
In between times, she also looked for some information about scholarships at some of the universities she wanted. Until finally Shila got the scholarship information. She immediately gathered the necessary documents and went to the university of her choice. She was accepted at the university as a new student. She was happy and very grateful to finally be able to continue her studies.
She majored in teaching. Her goal since childhood has been to become a teacher. She wants to be a professional teacher so that she can teach knowledge, shape character, guide, motivate and encourage students to learn, be a good example to her students, teach tolerance and be able to develop independence.
During college Shila also continued to work part-time for her tuition fees. Not only working, she is also active in activities on campus, she also joined one of the organizations on campus. Although she often feels tired, she always tries to get the best grades in each of her courses.
It’s been four years. The day Shila was waiting for finally arrived, her graduation ceremony. She successfully completed her studies by getting the best grades in her class. Both her parents attended the graduation ceremony. They were touched and proud of Shila’s achievement. They were proud to see Shila on stage receiving her diploma. She had finally become a scholar.
After graduation, she got a job at the most popular school in her city. She also received a scholarship to continue her master’s degree. She studied and worked hard so she could help her family. Until finally Shila graduated with S.Pd, M.Pd. With the category of young bachelor, and the best graduate. Now she is a lecturer at a renowned university.From this we learn that economic problems should not be a reason for us to bury our dreams. That to achieve our dreams we have to go through many obstacles. Our only task is to pray and work hard.
