The First Day of Teaching Practice
Rina was a first-semester PGSD student who felt both excited and nervous about her first teaching practice. Early in the morning, she arrived at a small elementary school near her campus. The classroom was simple, with wooden desks and colorful drawings on the walls. When the bell rang, the students entered the room cheerfully and greeted her with smiles.
At first, Rina’s voice was shaking as she introduced herself. However, as she started telling a short story and asking simple questions, the students became more active. They raised their hands, laughed, and responded enthusiastically. Rina slowly gained confidence and enjoyed the interaction.
After the lesson ended, her mentor teacher praised her effort and encouraged her to keep practicing. Rina realized that teaching was not only about knowledge, but also about courage, patience, and understanding students’ feelings.
