Di semester ini, kita akan fokus pada keterampilan utama, yaitu reading dan writing. Dua hal ini penting banget dalam belajar bahasa Inggris, baik untuk kebutuhan akademik maupun sehari-hari.

Course Overview

Reading di sini bukan cuma sekadar membaca, tapi kita akan belajar cara memahami teks, seperti menemukan main idea, dan membaca lebih efisien dengan teknik seperti skimming dan scanning. Teknik ini nanti bisa bantu kalian kalau harus membaca teks yang panjang, biar lebih cepat mengerti isinya.

Sedangkan writing akan mulai dari yang paling dasar, yaitu membuat simple sentences. Setelah itu, kita akan lanjut ke paragraph writing sampai akhirnya kalian bisa bikin essays yang lebih panjang. Nantinya kalian akan belajar menyusun kalimat yang benar, jelas, dan efektif, biar pesan yang kalian sampaikan mudah dipahami.

Kenapa Reading dan Writing Penting?

Dalam mata kuliah ini, kita nggak cuma belajar soal baca dan tulis, tapi juga tentang cara berpikir yang lebih kritis. Lewat reading, kita bisa lebih banyak belajar, bukan cuma soal bacaan tapi juga menganalisa isi teks, menghubungkan informasi, dan mengambil kesimpulan. Sementara writing adalah cara kalian untuk mengekspresikan ide, pendapat, atau cerita kalian dalam bentuk tulisan.

Kemampuan reading dan writing ini nantinya nggak hanya membantu kalian di perkuliahan, tapi juga di kehidupan sehari-hari, misalnya kalau harus bikin laporan atau menyampaikan ide ke orang lain.

Apa yang Akan Dipelajari?

Setiap minggu, kita akan belajar hal-hal baru. Di awal, kita fokus dulu ke basic reading techniques seperti skimming dan scanning. Lalu kita pelan-pelan masuk ke penulisan paragraf (paragraph writing) dan bagaimana cara memahami teks yang lebih panjang. Di tengah semester, kita mulai masuk ke penulisan essays dan teknik menulis yang lebih terstruktur.

Nantinya kalian juga akan dikenalkan pada bagaimana teknologi, termasuk AI tools seperti Grammarly atau ChatGPT, bisa membantu memperbaiki tulisan kalian, baik dari segi tata bahasa maupun ide.

Dengan mengikuti mata kuliah ini, di akhir semester kalian diharapkan bisa:

  2. Memperkuat kemampuan writing, dari membuat kalimat sederhana sampai menulis esai yang lebih panjang.
